Periodontics is that specialty of dentistry which encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes and the maintenance of the health, function and esthetics of these structures and tissues. A Periodontist that has achieved diplomate status means that the clinician has gone above and beyond minimal requirements in educational requirements in the specialty of periodontology. To even be eligible for examination the clinician has to have earned his or her DDS or DMD degree. Completion of a 3 year educational program after dental school that is certified by the American Dental Association. Successfully pass a qualifying exam and oral exam covering periodontal disease treatment and dental implant treatment.
Dr. Lanman has been examined voluntarily by a panel of internationally respected Periodontist and awarded Diplomate status. This means that Dr. Lanman has received one of the highest recognitions of achievement afforded by the specialty.
