I have blogged about teeth in an hour and how these advertising statements are borderline false marketing.  This is due to the fact that every patient presents with different circumstances that may or may not allow for teeth in a hour.  Dental implants can be utilized to replace missing teeth and immediately restored that same day if sufficient bone volume is present allowing for adequate initial stability of the implant.  This treatment modality is considered a predictable and straightforward concept.  In the hands of a experienced Periodontist and following careful case selection, immediate implant installation in an extraction socket may be a viable alternative compared to a more traditional delayed approach.

Therefore, I wanted to present a patient that I treated with a immediately loaded dental implant (teeth in a hour).  The patients presented with all of the required criteria that allowed for this treatment modality to be effective.  I surgically placed a Straumann bone level dental implant at 35 N-Cm, and torqued a temporary abutment.  In collaboration with the referring Dentist, a temporary crown was cemented to the abutment.  In one appointment, the patient received a dental implant supported tooth.  The procedure took approximately two hours to complete.  Therefore, a more truthful advertising slogan would be “teeth in a couple of hours”.
